Understanding Alcohol Addiction

Finding Hope and Recovery

For many individuals struggling with alcohol use, quitting may seem simple at first. They may believe they can stop drinking whenever they choose. Often, they succeed in staying away from alcohol for a few days or weeks. However, maintaining long-term sobriety becomes an overwhelming challenge. Eventually, they find themselves caught in a repeated cycle of relapse.

When a person continues to fall back into drinking despite their efforts to stop, it is a clear sign of alcohol dependence. Once an individual becomes alcohol-dependent, it is a lifelong condition that requires proper support and treatment.

At Prathyasha Bhavan, we provide a proven path to freedom from the cycle of addiction. Every person who walks through our doors receives guidance, care, and structured de-addiction therapies designed to help them break free from alcohol dependence and rebuild a healthy, meaningful life.

Prathyasha Bhavan, an initiative under the Liberation Social and Charitable Society, is dedicated to providing effective de-addiction therapies and rehabilitation for individuals struggling with alcohol and chemical dependency. Through its diverse programs, Prathyasha Bhavan also extends support and healing to the families of alcoholics, fostering recovery and reintegration into society.
The Liberation Social and Charitable Society was established in 2008, in response to the alarming rise of addiction among youth in Kerala. However, our mission began much earlier—in 1998—with focused efforts on creating awareness about chemical dependency and promoting rehabilitation for recovering alcoholics.

Mother Teresa
Centre

Mother Teresa Centre, an annex of Prathyasha Bhavan, embodies compassion in action. Inspired by the selfless service of Saint Mother Teresa, the centre extends dedicated care and rehabilitation for individuals in need of special attention and continued support. It serves as a safe and nurturing environment for recovering individuals who require extended treatment, counseling, and reintegration assistance. At the Mother Teresa Centre, every person is treated with dignity, love, and respect, reflecting the spirit of humanitarian service that defines Prathyasha Bhavan’s mission—to bring hope, healing, and a new beginning to those overcoming addiction and life’s challenges.

Awareness and Education
for Prevention of
Drug Abuse

The Awareness and Education for Prevention of Drug Abuse program is dedicated to educating and empowering young people across Kerala about the dangers and long-term consequences of drug and alcohol abuse. Targeting school and college students, youth, and school dropouts, the initiative seeks to cultivate informed, responsible, and resilient individuals who can make positive life choices.
A key component of the program is the identification and training of Anti-Drug Youth Ambassadors, who serve as role models and advocates within their communities. By encouraging active youth participation in awareness campaigns, counselling, and rehabilitation efforts, the program promotes peer-led prevention and early intervention.

Director’s Message

Prince Augustine

It ruthlessly preys on the family members of the alcoholic—especially the children. I have personally witnessed how their education, emotional well-being, and future prospects are severely affected. I recall one particular case from Prathyasha Bhavan, where over two thousand individuals with alcohol dependence have sought treatment. This man was a government officer — a highly capable individual who held a prestigious position in the tourism department. His wife and young son were residing in the United States.
